12.19.25 SUSD Weekly Message from the Superintendent

To our Sierra Unified community,
As I reflect on 2025, I am filled with gratitude and pride for the remarkable growth and momentum across our District. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication of our students, families, educators, staff, and community
partners, who are committed to strengthening our schools and positioning us for an even brighter future.
We continue to invest in our students through the strategic use of Measure U funds. This funding is crucial to enhance our learning environments, and we are deeply grateful for the trust that the community placed in us when voting for Measure U to
support our schools.
This year, those funds were expended with care to ensure they brought visible and meaningful improvements across the District. A major project we are especially proud of is the completion of the Sierra High School library. This milestone serves as the first of many improvements that will be brought to life in the coming years.
Equally as exciting is the academic growth our students demonstrated this year. Results from the 2024-25 Smarter Balanced statewide assessments showed remarkable achievements, including:
- Districtwide growth of +4.54% in English Language Arts, more than double Fresno County’s average
- Significant achievements among Native American students, who improved by +10% in ELA and 4.4% in Math
- Eleventh-grade students demonstrated outstanding performance with 65.27% meeting or exceeding ELA standards and 33.68% in math, the second highest in Fresno County
As we look ahead to 2026, I am filled with optimism and excitement to continue to build on the solid foundation we have laid together. Thank you for your commitment and belief in our schools. Wishing you a peaceful winter break and a Happy New
Year.
With gratitude,
Dr. Lori GraceSuperintendent, Sierra Unified School District
