SIERRA HIGH SCHOOL

A mountain of opportunity

Weekly Superintendent Update 5.8.26

Posted Date: 05/08/26 (04:09 PM)

Dear Sierra Unified Community,T
his week marks Staff Appreciation Week, and I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who make Sierra Unified such a special place for students and families. We hope that everyone in our SUSD family feels appreciated for the work they do all year long. During this week, we simply try to celebrate them more formally and intentionally because they deserve to be recognized every day.
It truly takes our entire village of employees to ensure student success. From the bus drivers who are the first to greet our students each morning and who brave the elements to get them safely to and from school all year long, to our nutritional services staff who keep students fed and ready to learn, every role matters deeply.
We are equally grateful for our amazing instructional aides and noontime duty staff who support students and teachers across our campuses each and every day. Their patience, care, and dedication help create safe and supportive learning environments for all students.
To our outstanding teachers, thank you for the countless hours spent outside the classroom grading assignments, planning lessons, creating engaging learning experiences, and supporting students far beyond the school day. Your dedication changes lives.
There are also so many others who contribute daily to the success of our schools — office staff, custodians, maintenance and grounds crews, administrators, counselors, technology staff, transportation teams, and every employee who works behind the scenes to keep our schools operating smoothly. Each person plays a vital role in supporting our students and community.
We are so grateful to everyone in Sierra Unified for all you do to provide our students with a Mountain of Opportunities. Your commitment, compassion, and hard work make a lasting difference in the lives of children every single day.
On behalf of our students, families, and Board of Trustees, thank you for all that you do. We sincerely hope you felt appreciated this week and know how valued you are to our district and community.
